sugar diabetes and other diabetes terms

Sugar Diabetes is a word used frequently to describe diabetes it is based on a popular diabetes theme however which might cause some confusion.

The myth goes along the lines that Diabetes is caused by eating too much sugar in our diet and the sugar we are talking about here is the table kind found on everyday grocery shelves, thus the sugar disease.

I can see where this myth came from and like most, it is based in part on some truth, Diabetes is a disease where the body will not break down glucose which is a form of sugar and it builds up in the blood.

This “glucose” sugar however does not necessarily come from eating regular table sugar I mean it does but it also comes from other different sources in our diet most commonly from carbohydrates.

The process is simple then, We eat carbohydrates that are converted into glucose, this glucose is burned by the body as a fuel to create energy that fuels us.

In diabetes synthesizing this glucose becomes a problem that builds up in the blood stream causing hyperglycemia and thus the Sugar Diabetes reference.
